Dear Spencer/Aeria, For Goodness Sake, Hire A REAL Translator.
For those not keeping track of how Aeria’s translation is done. This is how they source for translators.
The end result is “interesting” to say the least. You know the “quality” is there when the FIRST introduction screen is mistranslated.
Intro Screen:

Great disaster is not mentioned in any form in this screen, yet it appears mysteriously in the English text.
生き残った人類はシェルタを造り再興の時を静かに待った。 = Those who survived, constructed shelters as they waited quietly for a day when they can rebuild {their city}. Why is “quietly” omitted?
やがて、彼等は『七人の賢者』に導かれ巨大な塔を建造する。 = Eventually, they were led by the “seven wise man” to construct a huge tower.
七人の賢者 = The seven wise man/sages. 賢者 != philosopher in this context. This is frankly a word choice, but it’ll screwed up how you translate the later acts if you use philosopher here since they talk about wise old man in the later acts! Again, a random word is eaten, this time “Eventually”.
Login Screen:

Too many players what?!
多重ログインです。 = Multiple logins {detected}. The text won’t be too long and overflow the box if you had used the proper translation too.
Note the wonderful “Reminder AeriaID” It’s “remember” for goodness sake.
First Screen of Act 0:

Please be consistent with your translation. 2nd Home or Home II? And they change every instant of the word “Devil” to “Demon” for god knows what reason.
I forgot to screen cap the other stuff that appear in Act 0, but koda covered some of them in her post here. p.s. コダ-たん, アタシは座り小便するの。 T_T
Random Zs are cool:

In-game clock removed:

Virtual girl, Vizionz girl, Home point girl and….

Terminelles?!

And why is the G for the “girl” not capitalized?
Again、 Third Home or Home III?

Fusion gauge or “transfer skill” gauge?

LNC Chart:

Why is Amatsukami translated as The Amatsu Demigoddess? Did Takemikazuchi, Tsukuyomi, Izanami etc… have a sex change and no one informed Japan about it? Also, are they not divine enough to be full gods? And what’s up with Amatsu being left untranslated? Either leave it as Amatsukami or translate it to Heavenly Gods, which is a more appropriate translation.
Same goes for Kunitsukami. It should be TLed as Earthly Gods to contrast against Amatsukami. They are not “nation ruler” per se.
Why is Majin TLed as Demon God? They are NOT freaking demons for one. They are the chief gods of their respective pantheons!!! A more appropriate TL is Deity, which is used in Nocturne etc.
Why is there a random “The Yoma” when just about everything is TLed?
The brutze is cool too. Random Zs are cool.
Skills:

Nearly the entire support/curse tree is translated wrongly.
Sukanda = Makes it easier to get a critical hit on a mob.
Makanda = Reduce m.attack of a mob.
Also, what the heck does “Can be multiplied up to 4 times.” mean? It should be “The effect of this spell can be STACKED up to 4 times.”
After this point, I had to mentally block out all the inconsistencies and error. Good job Aeria. You wasted 1hr of my time.
Edit: Adding more LOLs now that I have a bit more time to go through the remaining screenshots I took.
Inventory:

原料タンク = Resource/material tank, not fuel tank.
In the game, the material tank is used to hold crafting materials such as screws, aluminum etc… Obviously those are things you place in a fuel tank. This is not a width issue since “Valuables” is way wider than the JP version of the same button.
WTB: Soy sauce:

Unseasoned Cerberus, just need to add soy sauce to make it delicious. Yes, I know what other meaning unseasoned holds, but why use such an odd translation when immature is much more appropriate? Heck, I can even joke about how Cerberus is an unseasoned fruit with this TL.

Power is frankly quite retarded for a stat name, but at least change the icon to reflect strength.
Trade List:

None set? Technically it’s the right literal translation for 指定無し but it sounds retarded when you say it out loud. “I’m filtering for none set, none set.” “No Filter” or “Show All” would have been much more appropriate as people might treat none set as filtering for “none set” items, i.e. items that don’t come with a set bonus.
Options:

戦利品ウインドウのルート放棄モート。 -> Disable loot window. Give up on looting {rights}.
戦利品ウインドウでルート放棄を実行すると、末取得の戦利品があっても、ルート権を失います。 -> If you enable the “disable loot window” option, even if there are items left behind, you will not be able to loot them.
“May” prevent? What?
Giftt, 1magic stone, magic stone1. Ts are included but not spaces.

Elyn?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Erin
Please research while TLing things. Genma and Demon Beast are TLed as Demigod and Beast everywhere else.
Interested in knowing what STG and MGC does.
Also, the Japanese line for the 2nd header is 妖精の輪舞, which means rondo of the fairies. Even just dance of the fairies is more apt since roundelay is a form of poetry! Poetry != dance.
Unexpectedly in accordance to lucky Engrish perhaps?
Additional examples of mistranslation of the curse/support skills:

Sukukaja: Reduce the chance of you or an ally from getting critically hit by an enemy.
Makakaja: Increase your or an ally’s m.attack
Rakukaja: Increase your or an ally’s p.defense
Marakukanja: Increase the p.def of everyone within a certain range.
Masamakaja: Increase the m.def of everyone within a certain range.
And they use simu-cast here… All of the buffs/debuff STACKS up to four times. Marakukanja and Masamakaja’s description is nearly right, but they missed the fact that it is a AE buff.

Complete mistranslation. It’s Samakaja and increase m.def for a single target.

Miss the AE description for both spells, and what the heck does “all enemy’s power of difference against the physical/magical attack” mean?
Marakunda: Reduce the p.def of all enemies within a certain range.
Marakunda: Reduce the m.def of all enemies within a certain range.
That’s all the screenshots I took in the time I was logged in. I won’t be logging back in there anytime soon for sure.
For those of you who are serious about the beta, go ahead and submit everything I write as “bugs” to qualify in their report bugs, get reward thingy.

You should totally translate the game instead of the translators currently doing this horrible job. o_O
I would have, IF they actually bothered to pay for translations.
True, true. But since it’s F2P, I don’t think they would’ve bothered that much. :P
Fans could probably just make some client modifications, like they did to RO. IF the game was worthwhile, that is. ;)
That’s a pretty clever way to cut costs, however you can see how it backfired. If they want to offer a quality product, then they should just hire professional translators and not some fans with a weak grasp of the language. Guess this will taint the company’s image quite a bit.
your average weeaboo won’t notice it, but they should still hire real translators, or learn to babelfish, etc
From what I’m told (from Spencer no less) Cave (with the approval of Atlus) was to pre-translate everything. So it’s possible Aeria is just in the process of correcting the translation Cave handed them. I’ve no idea what is going on at this point, as everyone knows the terms offered by Aeria to knowledgeable talent were pretty ridiculous.
All I can say is the font is really fugly… first screens I’ve seen of this.
“Great disaster is not mentioned in any form in this screen, yet it mysterious appear in the English text.”
mysterious appear?? I stopped reading when you used an adjective as an adverb while complaining about a translation.
Sorry for having such a mistake. My blog is a professional piece of work, that’s checked over by editors to ensure every single grammar mistake is ironed out and we are really sorry it appear.
Thanks for the comment. I’m going to fire all those darn editors and make sure this doesn’t happen again/
There are probably 9001 other errors that you might wish to point out for us to fix, since once again, this is a very professional piece of work and we take grammar very seriously.
Let’s not mention the fact they went with “Pyro Jack” over the correct “Jack Lantern” or even a better “Jack-o-Lantern” yet left a reference to Jack ‘o Lanterns in the Will ‘o Wisp text.
Reason for going with Pyro Jack? Because that’s “ATLUS Canon” despite the fact it’s WRONG!
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jack-o%27-lantern <– not that anyone needs it but it proves a point.
A small request:
Can you point out what the red kanji and kana are, I’m planning to see if I can redo the opening to not only include your proper translation, but to also have the red letters as well.
Ex:
In the sentence where ‘shelter’ is mention, I just want an emphasis on the part, in this case I’d render it as “shelTEr” where the caps are the red letters, in another case it might be the whole word.
Those, the te in shelter, wait for the first line.
Ey in they, led, tower for the second line.
Tower, call for the third line, which Aeria actually got right.
Have fun trolling Aeria or something!

Here is a preliminary image to demonstrate what I am getting at:

And the Aeria post about it (might get deleted)

I was in CB and thought “maybe they’ll fix this stuff.” I’ve been on the JP server awhile and thought I might wish to switch to the English version. But when they started open beta…I will stay with Cave tyvm. Even if they do have their faults – at least its generally not basic stuff like language. That just puts the game to shame.
And what’s with their “events?!” I’m sorry but leveling is not an event ><;
