Patch Notes For The 18th of December, 2008

Official patch notes finally out.

Edit: Some of the information here is outdated or vague. Read here for amendments etc…

Changes to Devils

- Devil Re-Union
A new system, Devil Re-Union, which allows you to change the growth type of your devils, has been implemented.

You are able to reincarnate devils that fulfill certain requirements in order to change their growth type.

Devils that belong to the higher classification of growth types will be upon reincarnation gain a “Re-Union Bonus”, improving their stats.

Devils that underwent Re-Union will become Level 1, but their will keep the skills they learn, along with the reunion bonus they gain.

You can repeat this as many time as you want to build up a powerful devil.

Devil Re-Union can be done at the Jakyou in all towns.

In addition, runstones, a catalyst require to perform this, will be sold at the magic shop in all towns.

Take note that devils which underwent Re-Union will not be able to be crystallized.

- Addition of new growth type.
With the implementation of Devil Re-Union, new growth types has been added for devils.

- Request from devils
Devils you have a deep friendship with will now make various request.

You can get rewards such as “codes” by fulfilling these requests.

You can get a bonus reward after fulfilling a certain number of consecutive requests.

*After accepting the quest, if the devil that made the request is removed, the quest will be treated as failed.
*You will request up to 3 request from your devils in a day.

- Devil Lock
You are now able to keep a devil at base friendship.
Devils that are locked cannot have their contact removed, fused off or handed over to NPCs.
Upon summoning a devil, you can click on the “lock” icon to lock or release them.

- New Devils
12 new devils have been added.

- Unification of Akuma Zensho
All your characters in the same account and the same world will now share their akuma zensho.
In addition, the rewards from the “devil researcher” for having 10-90 devils recorded has been changed.
The name of the reward for having 100 devils recorded will now be changed to “Medal of Devil Research”.
Together with this, characters that already received the old rewards will have the necessary items removed from the “important item” list.
Characters that has already received the old rewards will be able to get the new rewards as well.

New Changes

- Addition of Suginami Mine (?)
Suginami Mine (?) is a new dungeon that can only be entered once every 20hrs.
It has a different structure from previous dungeons.
It is not restricted by level and does not require a DB license to enter.

- Code Name
You can now give yourself a 13 character “Code Name”
“Code name” can be changed at the character information window.
* Characters that belong to a klanwill have their klan name shown in front of their code name. You are able to toggle your code name to be shown first by going to the graphical modification menu and choose and toggle the appropriate “display above your name first” to on.

You are able to create a unique code name by making use of the “code” obtain by solving quests from your devils.

Addition to the game.

- New quest
12 quests have been added.

- New plugins
11 new plugins have been added. (Fin: Which means that 11 out of 12 of the new devils are tri-union only…)

- Field boss added
Nakano and Shibuya have field boss added.

- Deletion of CP item
When you delete a CP item, where will be a confirmation screen saying that it is a CP item before the final confirmation window.

Game Balance

- Adjustment to game balance and compensation for it

As there are a lot of changes with stats and expert skills, expert skill gain rate for all worlds will be increased by 100% till the 15th of January, 2009.
In addition, 1 “reset item data ticket” will be given for each character in an account.
You will get the following item upon using the ticket:
10 water of amnesia *same effect as rete water
5 bottles of amnesia *same effect as rete bottle
1 sand glasses of amnesia *same effect as sand glasses of redoing
5 fragrance of mastery (10x)
* All the items cannot be traded.
The reset item data ticket and other items will be removed from all inventory/post/warehouse on the 15th of January, 2009.

- Sale of Ability Resetting Items

Magic shops in all town will be selling “water of amnesia”, “bottle of amnesia”, “sand glasses of amnesia”, which has the same effect as “rete water”, “rete bottle” and “sand glasses of amnesia”.
 
They will be sold until the 15th of January, 2009. Items unused by the 15th of January will all be removed. Please take note of this when you buy them.

Even though “rete water”, “rete bottle” and “sand glasses of amnesia” are now sold normally, characters below level 30 won’t be able to use them.

- Adjustment to critical effects.
Critical will now ignore physical/magic defence and do 120% damage.
A new formula will be used to calculate when a critical hit has occurs/prevented. It will now be easier to do critical hits under certain conditions.

Adjustment to the way speed, intelligence and stamina works.
- Every 10 speed will reduce casting time/cooldown time of skills by 1.5%
- Every 10 intelligence will reduce casting time of skills by 2.5%
- Every 10 stamina will reduce cooldown time of skills by 2.5%
* This applies to all skills.
* This applies to all players and devils, including enemy devils.

- Adjustment to chain expert skill, Magic Bullet Shooter.
The various “bullet hole” skill will now be affected by magical attack, in addition to range attack.
* The existing calculation will still apply, just that 50% of m.attack will be added to the calculation.
* The skills will still be classified as gun attacks.

Adjustment to chain expert skill, Sharpshooter
- All skills in sharpshooter will only affect gun attacks.
Adjustment to chain expert skill, Enhancement
- The effect of the skill, “pulse of assault” and “pulse of solid” will now be affected by the caster’s intelligence. The effect of the 2 skills will be greater the higher the caster’s intelligence is. The effect might be greater than what it is so far.

- Item that grant “pulse of assault” and “pulse of solid” can also be purchased with makka. The effect of these items does not rely on the caster’s intelligence. They have a fixed effect. It will be hard to exceed the effects of those cast by dedicated buffers.

- Adjustment to chain expert skill, Magical Rush.
“Kamaitachi”, “Freezing Lance”, “Sonic Screw”, “De Lorean” will now be affected by physical attack, in addition to magical attack.
* The existing calculation will still apply, just that 50% of p.attack will be added to the calculation.
* The skills will still be classified as magical attacks.

Bug fixes

- Adjustment to Mepetra
A bug where mepetra has the same range as petra has been fixed.

Order in which dodge, counter and block are calculated.
- A bug where you get countered after dodge a ~cannon spell in places like suginami gold, has been fixed.
With this, the situation where you get countered after dodging a ~cannon spell should be improved.

- The help message etc of some NPCs have been changed.

In case you don’t understand what the changes to magic bullet/rush means:

3 magic = 2 speed in terms of calculating damage for magical bullet
3 strength = 2 magic in terms of calculating damage for magical rush

This makes elf/chin very bad crystals for magical rush/bullet

Preliminary calculations indicate I’ll gain ~40% damage even after factoring the damage lost from losing sharpshoot.

Guess I’ll test it out tomorrow to see how it turns out.

    Sounds alot. Until you realize that doing quests isn’t worth the time, killing field bosses doesn’t give good rewards either und devil re-union is prolly not that hot either since devils are useless besides acting as meat-walls by voiding the main stuff thrown in a dungeon.

    Leaves the dungeon you can only enter once a day (if that’ll be worth antyhing and not be another suazku caverns no one bothers with), the balancing and maybe the 12 new devils (again, if they are worth anything).

    now if I gone elf for magical bullet then my rapid will be weak, but if I stay rapid then magical bullet will be rendered somewhat ineffective except for their ailments affliction. Does the arm crippling shot affected by mahou parameter as well btw? Since the damage is physical. FYI, I will be able to play near christmas, and if you’d like to test the new gunner formula, feel free to use my char and please tell me your opinion about making a better gunner wth the new change.

    Melee is completely useless now. Ichi gold is about the only place that have some slight use. Ran sugi gold, madan gunners cleared everything before I could even get to attack it to the point I got kicked out of the party for being useless. I’m not a happy person right now.
