Explanation About the Omake Section of Maria+Holic 03
Episode currently in QC, dumping this up before I forget.
Hey, P-Chan, I’m fansubbing the anime AND scanlating the manga now. Thanks for the advice!
The Omake section for this week is fairy weird since it’s basically Maths x Captain Tsubasa x History.
The first line of the Omake, ひとよひとよにひとみごろ (Hito Yo Hito Yo ni Hito Mi Goro) can be translated as either “I see people every night.”, or can be split up into: Hito (1) Yo (4) Hito (1) Yo (4) Ni (2) Hito (1) Mi (3) Go (5) Ro (6), which forms 1.41421356, the value of the square root of 2.
Kemari is a form of soccer played during the Heian period in Japan. Check Wikipedia for more information.
Nakatomi-no-Kamatari, also known as Fujiwara-no-Kamatari was a friend of Prince Naka-no-Ooe. They studied under Minabuchi no Shouan, a monk, and Shouan teaching affected a large part of the Taika reforms.
Soga-no-Iruka was killed by Prince Naka-no-Ooe in what later became known as the Isshi Incident, one of the initial steps taken for Prince Naka-no-Ooe’s coup d’état.
Prince Naka-no-ooe eventually ascend to the throne as Emperor Tenji.

Other Stuff
Shaft’s infamous random messages have started to appeared in this episode, but they aren’t really references/parody of things… yet.
