Random Notes for M+H 05 and 06

Doing it now because I’m lazy.

Edit: I fail at numbering!
Edit2: Forgot about the R&B Queen thing in 06.

05: Random Classmates

Couple of names appeared around ~ 02:58 on the blackboard. This isn’t really added in by Shaft as it appears in the manga too.

宮前かなこ – Miyamae Kanako
坂本竜江 – Sakamoto Tatsue
土方歳美 – Hijikata Toshimi
芹沢鴨子 – Serizawa Kamoko
黒船ペリー: Black Ships Perry

Excluding our dear Kanako, the rest are reference to various figures from the Bakumatsu period. Basically the feminine equivalent of their name were written on the blackboard.

Sakamoto Tatsue refers to Sakamoto Ryoa
Hijikata Toshi refers to Hijikata Toshizo
Serizawa Kamoko refers to Serizawa Kamo
Black Ships Perry refers to Commodore Matthew Perry.

06: Japanese Queen of R&B

This refers to Akiko Wada who often calls herself the Japanese Queen of R&B. Like what’s mentioned in the show, she’s 174cm tall and has a shoe size of 27cm. Huge for an Asian woman.

06: Triangular Eating

Triangular eating don’t refer to the food pyramid or anything of that sort.

Sankakutabe, loosely translated to triangular eating is a concept in Japan where you eat a bite of rice/bread, follow it by a sip of soup/drink, then a bite of your side dishes, before returning to eating a bite of rice/bread etc…

It’s a part of Japanese school lunch since the 1970s and the main reason they do is is because it makes your food taste better…
