Just updated the cooldown spreadsheet on my lunch break, it is definitely multiplicative after comparing the numbers.
Proof:
Naked cooldown of divine barrier is 120s,so
**If it is additive then: 120s – 120s*(30%+10%+30% from ganga, kirin and gun) = 120s – 84s = 46s
**If it’s multiplicative then: 120s*(0.97^10 [gangas])*(0.9[kirin])*(0.7 [gun]) = 55.8s
Helena’s cooldown time of divine barrier in reality = 55.7ish secs
See the spreadsheet link i gave you yesterday for spesifics, feel free to publish it and if I’m wrong in determining the cooldown formula please correct it.

I got the same problem here, but I was able to log in five hours ago. Is this just a continuation of bad connection problems? I’m still having problems entering DB-NET. Anyone else have this problem?
I’m getting the same problem here, whenever I try to login, it keeps telling me a system error has occurred.
Hopefully this doesn’t mean they blocked foreign IPs.

Looks like they did block foreign IPs, as part of their hacking investigations.
Hopefully it is temporary, just as it is written.
They’ve officially ban foreign IPs until further notice due to “hacks”.
I can setup a Japanese server to bypass their IP checks and may even in some situation improve your connection to Cave’s server, but most Japanese webhost charge quite a lot….
Did a quick search and the cheapest server I sighted so far is around 8k yen/US$80 a month and that’s pretty dot dot dot for me to pay alone.
Tell me if you’re willing to dump in money for the game and I’ll see what I can do.

Found a 4k yen/US$40 server, works out to US$8/person if at least 4 others are interested…

Well, I’m considering to spend some time on US server but after reading 2ch 女神転生IMAGINE 北米版 thread till the 540ish point, I decided to skip that thought and I have something to ask you Megaten Aeria players:
How can the majority of you sucks ass (as in really really being stupid, selfish, and sucky) all at the same time????? Did you realize the Aeria Megaten JP players now regard some of you as retards? Well, it’s something like WoW community usual retard stuffs. One guy said “If I see an American, I immadiately thought of jirai (jirai=landmine, as in avoid this guy at all cost in pt making)”
and about being stupid, one guy said “this one guy is bringing surt, but when i analyze it, as expected the skill choice is unclear, and yet he still levels it” random levelling demons is fun, no?
Oh they also starting to tell names too, like this guy name L_z_ in a speed bell pt, he just storm ahead in every room without waiting for enhance, in boss room jiko killed him and then he said “i pass after this round”, how nice of him! surely in us server speed bell is cheeep.
I’m really really entertained by how they bash players in megaten 北米版 from crazier inflation rate to awful translations. (And they are laughing at your otaku-ness too btw)
Note to Megaten Aeria TL team: lots of Japanese can speak perfect english, they are laughing at you now.
Don’t the Japanese laugh at crazy otakuness anyways, regardless of the person’s nationallity? I worked at an import store before, and while I met some annoying customers, I never meet anyone as creepy as some of the Japanese otaku you hear about in urban legands.
Then again, I never went to a convention before.
Anyways, I’ll pitch in for a server. Would Comcast be a problem with the server? If we can’t get a server, then could someone help me get into DB-NET, so I can at least bid farewell to my Japanese friends?

Well in any case, it’s most likely they are blocking us for good. But if someone is smart enough to bamboozzle accounts, s/he can just tunnel IPs easily and do it again and again…..(me not a computer savvy person, but I suppose getting accs info+passwords from server or emails are pretty good stuff) I’m thinking these hacking things are just done with keyloggers in netcafes, kinda easy and yet pretty effective….

I stopped at point 420, will finish up to 540 later. Majority of the Aeria MegaTen community fails in terms of game play. No question asked. JP are totally free to consider most of us as retards. I mean, Aeria is giving CAVE a good challenge for ____.
OTOH, I am grateful that they don’t consider all of us retards. There’s usually 10% (used to be more, a lot of good people quit because of Aeria management) who know what they are doing. Screw the excuse that JP player’s been at MegaTen longer than us, fact is, to me, Jirai applies to >50% of all American in mmorpg.
Defending American in mmorpg isn’t worth it.
PS: A protest about storming ahead in every room without waiting for enhance. I do it as well, 1hko=1hko. US server speed bell => About 80k/hour 50k/(1/2) hour off the top of my head.
PPS: Anna, I will introduce you to part of the top 1% of the EN Server (IE, Aion Guild) if you ever decided dropping by. That guild can prove we are not all idiots, but random runs in sugi can prove most of us are. It should keep you entertained for a while. (or until Finella sets her server up)

Anyway, the infamous M-troll have came back to gamefaqs and here, he said this place is very creepy and immoral and yet he came back to promote his site. Have to tell CAVE no shain-san to stop posting patch note with cryptic moon runes so he can understand.
IMO, the community on Aeria is especially bad due to a few things:
1) Nature of the game just attracts weeaboos.
One or two kawaii nihongo doesn’t make you an expert in the language and providing mistranslations etc… is just dumb (Hi Kaito-sama/Michael/insertrandomidiot).
2) The game sages are dumb
Most of the game sages, save a few, don’t actually know what is going on. Being basically Aeria’s first line of customer service, most are doing a wonderful job educating the wrong thing. Kurenaimaru-whatever, is a shiny example of this, giving gunner related advice that rivals Kaito in terms of dumbness. Thanks to him and Kaito, I’ve this vision that 99.99% of Aeria’s gunner are mouth-breathers.
First issue can’t really be helped, as anything “Japanese” will attract this crowd, but tons can be done for the second one, say, only make people game sages if they’ve a level 70+ character.
While level don’t usually represent knowledge, it’s harder to find a dumb 7x player than a smart 3x one.

Game Sages and End game knowledge is oxymoron. A common fact accepted among the end game population. So that part you don’t have to worry about.
I have actually encountered my share of high-bies without tarots/soul fuse gears. The record atm is Lv73 regal melee. Doing ichi with a fire machete and clear normal rooms with a cross-shaped spear… it makes you realize exactly how dependent you are on your synther : 何のは残念 => I read this as “its somewhat of a shame”

Asura: Please assume Anna’s mistaken you for someone else, because you didn’t do anything Anna posted. Byakki though, is a different matter.
Byakki, please note 3 things about Siomai. The first thing of note is that the “self-proclaimed kiddy-king” isn’t self-proclaimed and is in fact one of the humblest player I know of. The only reason his name ever gets mentioned is he is in most people’s (Mine included) opinion the strongest gunner in EN server. Someone other gunners/players look up to. I have no idea of my own credibility, but I would vouch for Siomai no question asked. In fact, I received a personal pm from him that he doesn’t mind the insults. AS LONG AS his gf doesn’t get involved. That’s the type of character he is and why I would vouch for him. (Sorry Sio about revealing the pm, people needs reference)

(Ava, signature, you name it you got it) Really makes a single guy jealous. However, in my and most people’s opinion, that’s their freedom. They can proclaim their love as much as they want (and encouraged to, MegaTen gets really dull endgame) and you are free to view it as so. (IE: Sickenly, immature, etc etc) Note though, “his-so called internet girlfriend” is completely incorrect. “His Girlfriend” is more accurate, shorter and to the point. Sorry Sio and Asura, guilty as charged in this regard, not that it’s a bad thing.

I appreciate this wealth of information that I found out from Dra as a melee player which confirms some of my observations and experiences. Some of my plans for my builds was listed here, so Im glad Im reassured the jp players tested them and tried them out prior. However, the egos and “im-better-than-you” feeling Im sensing from reading some of the comments is quite sad.
Honestly, Im not sure on where Aeria’s biggest population comes from, nor do I care, since it’s a game. Yea, there are annoying questions that gets asked daily, weekly, monthly, w/e, the same ones, that’s in any MMO I’ve seen. Also, it’s not like jp or any players for the most part, know exactly everything from the beginning, so forgive or excuse the GS and “noobs” for not knowing the most efficient/best information, let them/us/whoever know what’s right and wrong.
But yeah, if jp’s players are hardcore and 1337, or just any player from Asia, let’s not talk about that…*points to hard core MMO players that…spirited away…* Im sure jp has it’s own fair share of idiots and aeria has their own fair share of “good players” that don’t post on the forums as much or at all.
Random Notes
Culture wise in mmorpg. In my very biased view. #1 is Korean for being hardcore. JP is only second or third. JP pros I can beat every so often, Kr pros are just untouchable. (Due respect to the Kr pro who scarred me forever)
mrdolphin, JP players by our definition are indeed more hardcore. This is the way their culture works, extremely competitive, much more so than EN players in mmorpg. It is my belief that the JP view of EN players are like so because the culture difference of only admiring those at the top. They are efficient and brutally to the point. Again, my opinion, they enjoy being the best more than enjoying the game and being second.
EN is much easier going, forgiving and well, casual overall. You can get away with mistakes and insults that you could never do in JP. Community is much more relaxed overall and people end up having fun just enjoying the game. You DON’T have to do anything; you do what you want to do even if it’s stupid. We even laugh at our stupid mistakes where JP won’t tolerate.
Culture difference’s pretty much the above. Just like JP enjoy a competitive atmosphere, EN enjoys its casual gaming. This is why I believe JP’s view of, “EN are retards for doing stupid things” applies to most of us and that “JP are taking things too seriously” applies to most of them.
Shurgs, I been to both ends. They are both true as far as I am concerned. By the same token, someone’s serious in EN server, competitive, and achieved results; they will be acknowledged by most of the JP community and admired. Just like we would say “that’s more like it” to a casual gamer from JP and get along well.
And, personal experiences go with the above. I have long been an acknowledged as a hybrid of some note to EN megaten’s JP population due to my unique build and gameplay. (please note I am currently bragging) By the same note, “LMAO Draa, GG, how the hell did you manage to mess that up?” EN population often say something along that line when I mess up, like my demon fusion for my cannon quetz. (excuse me for a face-palming moment) JP would just label me as an idiot and/or disappointed, instead of laughing at me good naturedly.
Em, fyi, I labelled myself as an idiot for messing up that fusion path. I still haven’t made my cannon quetz because of that mistake.

Personally, Im no japanese/korean player, nor do I live/was born there to know 100% how their culture works. However, I AM asian (lol). Anyways what I meant to say was, I know how in a cultural stand point, Asians tend to be very competitive (though in my experience, competition or survival results from poverty and lack of jobs).
I was just putting my 2 cents in there since I saw some Aeria players posting. I know it’s not right to force my disposition/idea/point in online video games to someone from a different culture as values/ethics/ideas are not ==.
Sorry, should have thought about my post before posting. Im sure not EVERY jp player thinks like that, much like not every en player thinks hard core gaming leaves one a basement hermit forever.
Though this leaves me to wonder, just how hard core these players can be…I think I’ll do some research and make this a paper in my next class =]

I for one value Anna and finella input for all of my noob questions. Sometimes I wish I could put them in my compendium and summon them whenever i have a question. :p
There are quite a few players in Aeria version of SMT:I that dont know what they are doing build wise. I just think that the game is a little more casual over here then it is on the Japanese servers. Alot of people are there just to dress up their virtual avatar.
Actually reading post got own thoughts. I agree most the EN players are stupid. You can see it on the forums, they rather post a new topic on a question that’s answered various times rather then use the search feature or even browse the topics that are stickyed that usually cover everything.
I actually don’t level in teams cause of the horrid “casual”(Failure) teams on servers. (of all my leveling only lvl 47-60ish was done in teams for sugi gold with lots of horrid memories). More recently my friend Rho ( who also only ever team lvled maybe 45-55 sugi gold) decided to join an Ichi gold team as a enhancer (note she is Demo dash/Enhancer). She wanted to be lazy cause I didn’t feel like leveling.(normally we Duo now since both have PVP builds, but clear the speed run in 4 mins).
In that team, every player was 60+, but they took 3 full enhances to clear 1 room on the top floor. When they got to the boss room, the melee said he would pull jiko. Ended up pulling all gaki’s instead of jiko. As gaki’s run wild on top of them, Rho teleports out and team wipes out. So OBVIOUSLY cause it was PURELY the gaki’s fault they failed, they decided to spawn more bosses to reduce the amount of Gakis. So Rho finding huge humor in pretending to be a pure enhancer continued with them. Long story short, the arrive at boss room and Rho watches the team sacrifice them selves 1 at a time to hold jiko down a bit and 1 death bound comes and they all die. They ended up finishing run almost 45 minutes later.
Think this is a selective case? My memories of Sugi gold teams were pretty much exactly the same with sacrificing themselves for slight amount of damage on nightmares.
This is how you casually level up on the EN server
(and why people would pay me ridiculous amounts of money to power level them)
On last note, the game sages are picked by how “optimistic” (Ignorant) you are, and how well you can preach how good Aeria is. When your high level, you see all the huge flaws and can’t be like taht so your not wanted as a GS. Knowledge was never a requirement for being a GS or you wouldn’t have GSes needing to PM me cause they have no clue about half the game mechanics.
… With my 2nd account, it takes me less than 10mins to clear Ichigaya Gold.
No fragrance/move speed increase, 2nd account only has +50% pulses, and I clear the whole room.
It’s hard to believe a full group would take more than a min to clear just 1 room of kirins.
JP at the moment has stronger CP clothing and a bigger end game population than EN server. The standards on the JP server is much higher than EN.
For example, I can manage 6 minute runs solo on my main with incense/speed beads and porting out after the boss dies. This accomplishment to most on EN server is top-tier end game. I believe that for JP, its only about below average for end game.

*shiver shivers* Pearz, I swear me and you and an enhancer was faster than a full group. Even then due to lack of no-knock back for me you had to solo most of the boss room. Casual leveling was not fun.
Yeah Finella, EN server’s casual leveling is horrible in terms of efficiency.
Since we’re sharing Sugi Gold memories, let me share some of mine.
Back when the level cap was at 80, we’ve someone that was at that point, the highest level melee in the EN community on the JP server doing some fairy retarded things.
Said person, let’s call him Lawl has a Surt. However, his Surt doesn’t have fog breath nor a dodge.
His Surt was so famous that he has about half a 2ch thread (around 500 posts) dedicated to it, and was colloquial known as a “megidola party wiper”.
Even before that, Lawl fused a Kerberos with TWO passives, the +30hp and +1 HP regen one.
He also didn’t have any magical weap, and thus was doing pathetic damage to Aeros.
Gear level at that time was fairly low and stuff like modification, kerberos/orthos bonus etc… wasn’t even implemented yet, so burst damage is quite low, and it was common at the point for people to lure bosses away one by one to kill.
When the boss room starts to spawn, Lawl would just rush straight into the room and melee the bosses, aggoring quite a few things in the process.
Remember that his Surt doesn’t have fog breath, so he’s isn’t able to shut down the boss’ attacks and thus, he get hellfire/etc to death very quickly.
How the heck did he get to his 70s in the first place? God knows, but a ton of melee players follow his “advise” and I’ve yet to see any of them still play the game.
I group with him once and the experience is mortifying.
Incidentally, Lawl was also the one behind the ash plate duping incident I mentioned about in the other post.
When the Surt thing was going on, he was already out of Globe, so no “reputation” harm to me.
Thankfully, I was never in the same clan as him.
Nevertheless, when Ichi gold was implemented, he then grind there.
Surt+dodge was no more an issue, but one hit kill kirins was. In the end, 2ch sarashi guys laughed at his poor poor flamboyant Hero costume, only his name sounds strong, cannot kill kirins in one spin, cripple melee, etc. And they laughed too at the facts that he was a baka gaijin. Globe people thinks this melee is nice.
Another memory from our sugi gold era is when a nice female gunner who is tired of babysitting globe’s people then tell everyone behind globe’s back that they are all leechers plus sucks. then the gunner got out to join uh…idk which klan to bbe in a much more happier place, she moved but the gossips she spreads affects us as well, so everybody thought that we also suck and leech which is a big question mark since we dont play with japanese THAT often and we never leech. Nevertheless, everybody still thinks she is nice, and fifi is mean and snobbish.
