Sparks of a Flame War Being Sighted?
Might as well go all out!
This is a very serious post. Please read through the whole thing before commenting.
Let’s go about this chronologically.
June 3, 2009 at 2:11 am, Anna made a post highlighting that there’s a sarashi post on 2ch about the EN Aeria community.
First, you need to know a few things first.
What is 2ch? Here’s a wiki link to explain in detail. It’s basically the largest forum in Japan.
Here is the thread in question.
A large portion of the post there are fairly negative and paints quite a bad picture of how things are on the EN server.
Also, on the JP server, if you screwed up in anyway, your name will appear in the forums and it’ll be cycled in-game VERY quickly, spending a nice spot in everyone’s blacklist.
Here’s one of those threads.
Look at the first ten post or so and you’ll see a nice list of names, clans etc… and what “offense” they made, be it botting, trade scams, leeching etc…
For good or bad, both Anna and I have our names mentioned in the thread before.
Anna for “leeching’ because her connection was bad during a period and couldn’t play well, and me for ‘duping”. Those allegations were quickly cleared though, so no long term harm.
A bit of drama that caused quite a bit of harm was when the entire Globe clan got listed as a “landmine” clan that shouldn’t be party with, twice.
First time was when a certain male melee abused the Ash plate bug to constantly spawn it.
Of course, people caught wind of it and it went up on 2ch.
In fact, there’s still remaining proof about it
The second time happened when a female gunner quit Globe to join a JP/TW clan. I don’t know what she said, but this gunner told her new clanmates that she “often has to help people from Globe and they are ignorant and she’s tired of babysitting them since they constantly bug her”
She told one person, that person told others and boom, posting in 2ch about Globe being a parasite clan.
During those period, people refuse to group or even trade with me.
I would literally warp from 3rd home to Shinjuku to initiate a trade, only for the other party to cancel the trade “because you are in a parasite clan”.
The first incident wasn’t that bad since things got resolved quite quickly, but when the second incident broke out, I had to explain that my clan is Globe報部 (see the 2 little kanji behind Globe) and not Globe and besides, it was most likely a mistake.
It took TWO months of PR work before people are actually willing to trade things with me. Eventually as Globe grew smaller and smaller, the incident is more or less forgotten.
This is the kind of environment we play in. If you screw up in anyway, you WILL be publicly humiliated until you apologize and someone vouch for you that the allegation no longer stands.
This also brings about a culture that as a whole, is VERY hard for a new player to get into, as you’re expected to know xxx, yyy and zzz or risk having your name appear on 2ch.
Incidentally, this is why a sizable amount of JP player went over to Aeria to play as the gear gap etc… is fairly huge to catch up with.
e.g. Quit for 3 months, come back and you’ll find your gear obsolete. In order to get better gear, you try to join a party to gain xp/makka but people complain that your damage/etc… is pathetic and that you’re leeching.
Now, keep the culture on the JP server in mind before you continue to read.
Side note, the “best” clan that Kaito “sama” talked about, maru kajiri is a well known blacklisted clan.

What Anna did, if you remove all the dry wit behind it is a very simple message: Is the EN server THAT bad?
I don’t see her going “Hurr durr, JP sever banzai”, more of a “Japanese players ON Aeria are even complaining about the community, is that true?”
Heck, you ever have Dra31Xus going that yes, the lower level population as a whole is horrid but there are intelligent player around, and no one argues that fact, not even Anna.
“most players on aeria will not share much information on builds, thereby creating noobs -.-” <-- I read this as yes, they are plenty of dumbass around because information and such aren't shared.
Then, why did Kuraokami who basically agree with Anna's statement, flame her for pointing out the same thing...?
Isn't the whole basis of Anna's message being that the EN community is full of people that have no clue about the game?
RikkuHime's later comment again reinforces this belief.
In addition, do we restrict information here? Most questions are answered in an amiable manner and things that we are unsure of, we indicate as such.
The new comments by Anna and Byakki are rude, but hey, Kuraokami started the provocation.

Again, no where near the entire chunk of stuff Anna post was about JP being superior yada yada.
In terms of idiots, we’ve our JP server clown, Michael who makes outrageous claims that he can’t back up, and has been kicked out of TWO clans.
So yes, no server is “perfect”.
Again, culture is different for the servers, and that on the JP server means that you are forced to know.
On the topic of game sages being ignorant, I feel that is the biggest problem right now on Aeria.
As what is essentially Aeria’s first line of customer service, this is horribly inadequate.
When a game sage post a message on Aeria’s forum, a typical player will assume that they knows what they are talking about since they are after all people chosen by Aeria.
As a “leader”, you can’t be ignorant, or your followers will all be confused and the situation has snowballed so badly in the forums due to months of stupidity accumulating there.
e.g. Ex-GS cenic5 once said that I’m a negative nancy about the PVP stuff I posted.
And just what do you see right now? Melee/mages dominating PVP mainly due to regal/cotw/dd, matches what my post said.
I can probably dig out a tons of other worst examples, but that’s too tedious.
Of course, like all things, there are both good and bad game sages, but people like Dra31Xus, Pearz etc have pointed out that most game sages knows nothing. From the way I see it, the race for accurate information is going to be harder and harder.
Why do I care about this? In case most of you don’t know, the original basis of the blog, before I expand it to cover my fansub related stuff, was as a collation of patch notes and other information about the game.
I hate people passing off messed up machine translation as information sources nor do I appreciate people passing off assumption as facts, which is why I did all these translations and tests.

Hi Blast, let me give you a brief history of time.
April 2007, Finella created in Imagine.
June/July 2007, Globe Formed
August 2007, Finella tired of correcting/arguing with Maia on clan chat, breaks away from Globe and form the sub clan, Globe報部, which quickly became a seperate entity.
I don’t recall a name called “Blast” but feel free to let me recall just exactly who you are.
Same level as blue would also imply that you aren’t really active as blue doesn’t really clock in much time into the game due to school/work.
Just curious, what was I always asking?
Was it “I’m soloing sugi silver, anyone wants to come with me?” or “Anyone needs help with their acts?”
Don’t tell me that it was “hai guaiz, I just played this game, plz PL and gib me monay!”.
Before Globe was even formed, I was already in my 30s AND completed all my acts, all 7 of them at that point. Blue can easily verify this.
My interaction with people from Globe after I left was pretty minimal except for Katagai and a few others who were my regular group mates.
Most of the time, I play with JP groups or my own clanmates.
Besides, this blog goes back to September 2007 and there’s Globe’s forum/wiki as well. Gave it a look and not surprisingly, my post style hasn’t change.
Still full of random sarcasm and Michael bashing.
You obviously miss the posts where I practically called out everyone in Globe for being an idiot, among other things.
On the topic of Michael bashing, can’t believe that I’ve been doing it since December 2007… 1 and 1/2 years… ouch.

About Globe being leechers klan, I’m still prety much being traumatized by harrassment/questions I received from some japanese players whenever they saw Globe word hovering on my head long ago. Have to clarify things, prove that I can run gold without being a leech, trade with klanless alts, etc.
We even considered to change klan name whatsoever, klan level was too high that day, so now we just mask it with our nicknames….

Dear mr. Ds (Dra, dolphin) and other players.
I didnt really get about the hardcore, hermit, hikikomori players in JP servers thing. Note that most of my JP friends are 25-30ish in age and have a steady jobs, incomes, families, etc. One is a band guitarist, one is a financial analyst with a son, one is normal office worker who gets on a bike to his workplace. But they play good, and their gears are high end, aka chiaki’s 60m makka costumes.
Unlike what Michael believe, they didnt spend 2 years to prepare gears for gold dungeons, they have MI sets on their alts, they dont login much, just 3-4 hours a day, yeah, they spent money on lottery, but they keep it low, they also complained that CAVE sucks, they spam exp fragrances from the failed lotteries. Hardcore? You didnt see the hardcore yet. They are normal people with normal lives yet they play good and behave nice. Yes, there’s lots of jackasses too, just check the sarashi list, one named hakka is a veryyy prominent figure there. Fifi is egoistical? hah! Not compared to some of sarashi residents.
I believe Aeria server have some nice players, intelligent players. It’s just 2ch people are really negative towards you guys, getting names listed there is a sign. Thanks for enlightening me, I believe Mr.Ds and some aeria players are smart and polite.

Rifle: Ranbus SVD-> any x-slot will do
All of them have 10.24% (except CP houou ring, 13.xx%) chance of success, happy spamming cabinet 2.0x and sequencers.

FYI, I spent 34 sequencers to mod fire3 on my duhctahctbthcthy lance slot 3. I made 34 alts and dual client with them in sugi silver, 3 everyday and send them one by one to babel talking with that dwarf after they reached lv20….. Fifi used like 30 too…..

MB-centric build? PVP or PVE?
for PVE, hmmm mine is shot 7-0, demonology 3-0, blessing 1-0, gun knowledge 8-0 (will max this on lv 80), magic control 1-0, destr magic 1-0, curse 2-0. My gunner wasnt done yet, since cave is screwing me with implementing magic control craps, magic control helps with MB in terms of lower cast time, MP cost and toggles that add elemental damages…. now i have to raise them sloooowly and sacrifice something else (and i really like cotw)…. And my gunner have yet to reach lv 80 and only need avalon.
Anyway, here’s an alternative (if you gunners guys plan to maximize shot + MB damage only), no no rapid, they have diffrent builds and will be implmeneted one day chain expert called R______E beep* (censored by fifi’s auto censor)
Lv 90
Gun Knowledge – 8000
Curse – 2000
Demonology – 2000
Shot – 7000
Control Magic – 7000
Total points: 26000

5-4ish sharpshoot + above 5-Xish madan (MB), have all magcon toggles and passives, have spiral shot for aoe (fun fun, it’s awesome, soloing sugi gold became easier), but this sucks in pvp since sharp isn’t 6-0…gun knowledge 8-0 means +9 l-range dmg(equivalent to +18 speed)
toggles add 10% elemental dmg. and sharpshoot covers most of enemies type save for gods/humans.
idk bout pvp build yet, since i dont really spend time there. PVP is so real money unfair and i’m too much of a cheapskate to spam fragrances just to get high in score board.
Additions:
There’re some things that really makes MB gunners hate themselves.
1. Not enough skill points to get all useful skills, please see

Basically gunners post-patch is like, getting this, losing that, getting that, losing this.
2. MB skill damage modifiers are smaller compared to DD, and worse, they are single target. Sure, sharpshoot is available but mages with not maxed equipments can deal approximately the same as full Emperor tarot MB with full mod avalon with sharp on.
3. Dodge, dodge, dodge, weak AoE, dodge. Gandharvas hate you.
In any case to mitigate skill points thing, there’s this RL method that most people use to handle limited options problems: prioritize.
It’s up to you which to prioritize for build: damage or disabling or support or else.
*You just read the maximized damage part (can slip in rapid 1-0 in exhange for gun.knowledge 7-0 for close range emergencies but I prefer to use my devils’ spins)
**for disabling, can slip 1-0 bless and 1-0 destruct and sacrifice 2k from magcon.
***for support, slip in bless and healing but needs to sacrifice more points…(and with dedicated enhancer, it’s kinda useless).
I dont really know about PVP build but i can give you some info I read from 2ch VERSUS, scariest gunners lists (idk about their ranks, but to be listed there means that you are no slouch either)
Blue Group (updated 31st May)
1. enhance and wound curse rapidder x3 people, high int and then curse and then rapid then opponents died.
2. wound curse MB, full body emperor tarots, spams usobuki (almighty damage, single target), terrifying shot power.
Red group
1. rare chaos MB in red group, high shot power, loves to spam status ailments, if inflicted, all you can do is pray.
2. MB that spams nerve and mind attacks, known wearing a blue rider outfit, has a fanclub.

Ah, Anna mistook my hardcore for being playing all day on the computer/spending all the money into the game. My apologies, please let me clear this up.
Hardcore meant hardcore efficiency. Most of the population on JP doesn’t play around for the sake of playing around. They log in to get whatever needs to be done, done. “yet they play good” => was what I meant.
Most of EN-server logs in just to play around. Consider I spend 4~6 hours per day before my school term started, I am still only lv80 at the moment.
The last time I was being hardcore/efficient about finishing something was creating my pvp demons. My pvp Parvati/Hecate was finished in a single day. (And got a lot of hate when I tested it out) Most players on EN server would have been happy finishing it in 2 weeks or so.
MMORPGs are srs bzness.
I can’t believe you still play despite the b/s on both JP and US server. I think the problem shows itself right there, poorly run company runs a poorly mmo game therefore creating a Survival of the Fittest (or richest) gamers particularly on the JP server, cause god forbid you don’t “follow the rules” in Japan (lolplzstfu Japan you faggots).
I’m so done with MMORPGs for now, too many F2P american licensed games suck donkey balls.

Sadly, no matter how much I would like to continue playing this game, it seems like you need to invest a hecka lot of time to stay marginally competitive, even in the EN servers or get into a clan with people willing to give you the needed fusions for your equips. In modifications, that’s a craptacular experience….
I have a question….do we even get, or possibly in the near future….ANY in-game weapons/armors that was not in-game since official launch?
Items sold in stores? None except the PVP talismans. Talisman went in 19th of Feb, 2009. Patch before that which adds store-buyable items was 7th of August, 2008 (stuff in Protopia).
Other fusible/craftable weapons/armor? A few random fusion weapons like Poseidon etc… was added on the 29th of Jan, 2009. Patch before that which adds fusible/craftable weapon was on the 27th of November, 2008. (relic pieces)
Rare drop? Thor’s hammer/cloak on the 7th of May, 2009. Patch before that which added a new rare drop weapon/armor was 21st of August, 2008. (Ichigaya Gold, Cursebringer etc…)
New CP/AP weapon/armor? Probably today.
Here‘s a timeline of other stuff they add and when it was added.
10 months since the last act and dungeon that’s actually used by people.
Most of the points in the “Why Imagine is failing” post is still valid even today.

I know it’s not on topic but, wow, I never knew that the Japanese culture of gaming was so complex. Hell you could probably write a novel on it and sell some books to psychology researchers, hahaha. In any event you have thoroughly convinced me that I will never, ever, ever play on a Japanese server.
It’s the nature of the game actually which requires you to spend cash to be strong. Without cash items, efficient gold dungeon runs are like not efficient at all. People spent money and want most worth for it.
For comparison: it’s equivalent of RO/whatever grindfest MMO if you have a laggy healer pt member and you lost xx% on your lv 98 because s/he didnt press the button fast enough. How’d you feel?
*In JP server if it happens often then sarashi on the laggy healer. Sarashi for each MMO exists in 2ch.
I didn’t mean that aspect; when I played WoW I also tended to be a bit elitist against crappy players, but it’s the viral aspect that’s daunting. As Japan is more progressed in being “technology-driven” than other countries, the viral and memetic aspect of slandering people and the fine-grained social culture is the one that, based upon Finella’s description, sounds more dangerous or cautioned to the non-Japanese gamer.
I thought generally instead of virally slamming someone on a forum, that on a lot of MMO’s people just stuck to playing with their friends to avoid having to PuG or deal with poor players. But the only thing I can think of to breed such an environment is that Japanese gamers must generally all have a high gaming skill level? And higher level of competitiveness? Higher to the degree of casual people who just want to play a game.
It’s more of the anonymous nature of 2ch bringing out the worst in people sometime.
