Hard vs Tedious
Hard: Taking one hour to move from point A to B, because there’s an intricate series of quests between the two areas, and said quest requires guile and cunning to complete.
Tedious: Even though point A and point B are physically next to each other, you can’t take the direct path because there’s a 10cm wall blocking, and thus you have to take a one hour long detour to get around said wall.
Dumb mechanics don’t make games hard. They make them tedious.
Why do people defend tedious and/or dumb mechanism? I’ll never know.
Then again, to a good population of people, stating the flaws of a game, in hopes of the game changing for the better is called a jaded, negative, misinformed or bias troll.
Worshiping the flaws however make you a saint who shall restore all hopes that were drained away by the “jaded trolls”, even though these white knights are often more misinformed and/or bias than the “trolls” they are attempting to fling a flask of acid at.
