Where is Diaspora Ueno?

Anyone remember this interview with Nikawa? Previously covered by me on this post.

Last patch of 2010 for Imagine has rolled out, and Diaspora Ueno is no where in sight.

Testing…?

Scoville Says:

We’re speaking with our developers to get more information about this system and the way it works. For instance, we want to check on the time frame during which the price fluctuation happens, and the actual degree to which it will fluctuate. If we feel that there are some issues with the way it runs, we will request changes.

How the heck do you test something if you don’t know how it’s exactly supposed to work? Can’t you jokers up at Aeria’s office drop the pretense of knowing anything remotely technical about the game?

Months of testing and you didn’t realize that price fluctuation wasn’t active when CoC2 went live, and even now it’s partially borked?

Months of testing and you neither know how often prices change, nor the degree of change?

I’m very interested to know what kind of QA methodology you guys adopt.

OTOH though, it’s good to see a GM that actually knows what he’s saying, and actually went forth to do real tests.

Greywulf’s numbers on Cell Gold are accurate, though getting the 105 pearls/120 opals required to hit 300k+ takes a good amount of time.

However, Cell Gold’s pearls/opals isn’t a recent change.

Anna and I farmed Cell Gold for Makka during the short period between channel unification and Shiva/Vishnu. For that period of time, we were actually considered rich in-game and could afford stuff.

Of course, the inflation brought about by Shiva/Vishnu killed off any further interest we have for the game…

Fact: Price fluctuation has nothing to do with the demand of items.

This bit was never coded in. Price ranges from ~40% to ~350%. Price is RANDOMLY determined. Arrows also randomly show up and down with no proper pattern.

Proof of this? Monitor the price of plates for dungeons like Ichigaya Silver that pretty much no one runs.

Also, the base price of Ichigaya Gold plates is 26600, not 20k like before. This means the average costs of plates for Ichigaya Gold has went up by a good bit.

Fact: There are only 2 prices for plates: the Yagiya at the dungeon itself and the Yagiya in the Jakyou.

All Yagiya in the Jakyou have the same price because they are the same NPC internally, and are cloned/cped.

Telling people to buy plates somewhere else is dumb.

Thanks for All the Fish

Earlier in the day, I received an e-mail from Cave which can basically be summarized as “do it or b&”.

Per Cave’s request, most of the information obtained via ToS violations have been removed, specifically the bulk of ImagineDump.

Please address all grievances to https://secure.cave-online.jp/contact/.
